JORDAN

We've always wanted to go to Jordan, especially Petra, after seeing the film 'Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade'. Petra is vast and the heat is a killer! one tip... drink plenty and use rehydration sachets - you really do not want heat exhaustion!! The people are friendly - we had a taxi driver whose sister was married to a professor at Bangor University. He invited us to his home for a meal and was very genuine. We were with a tour however, so couldn't take him up on his offer, but most Jordanians were the same. It's not a country that can easily be attempted solo so a tour is great - and if you explain you are there to take pictures, the people fall over themselves to help!
Petra Treasury from the Siq

This view of the richly coloured rose sandstone rock of the Treasury, al Khazneh, a Nabataean tomb in Petra, was made famous in the hollywood blockbuster 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'. All visitors get their first view of the city of Petra just like this...
